Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply to the Kehila Local app, kehilalocal.com and Kehila Local for Places (together, "Kehila Local"). By using Kehila Local you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Kehila Local is offered in the United States.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you.
- Give accurate information, verify a US mobile number that is yours, and keep one account per person.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
- You can delete your account at any time (see Delete your account).
Community guidelines
Kehila Local is a community space. When you write a review, suggest an update, host an event or manage a listing:
- Be truthful and write from your own experience. Do not review a place you own, manage or compete with.
- Be respectful. No lashon hara about individuals, insults, harassment, hate or threats.
- Keep it clean and relevant. No spam, advertising in reviews, or content that is not about the place or event.
- Protect privacy. Do not post anyone's personal details, and do not photograph people for listings.
- Protect the community. Never post or suggest the location of a private mikvah, security arrangements, or anything that could put people or places at risk.
- Do not scrape, copy in bulk, or try to break or get around the security of Kehila Local.
Our team checks contributions and may edit, decline or remove anything that breaks these guidelines, and may limit or close accounts that do.
Your contributions
You keep ownership of what you contribute (reviews, updates, photos, event details and listing content). You give Kehila Local a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, store, reproduce, edit, adapt, publish and display it in order to run, improve and promote Kehila Local. Accepted factual updates, such as minyan times or opening hours, become part of the directory and stay after you delete your account, without your name. You confirm you have the right to share what you contribute.
Not a psak
Kehila Local is a directory, not a halachic authority. Nothing in it, including zmanim, eruv details, kashrus information and descriptions of places, is a halachic ruling. For any question of halacha, ask your rav.
Zmanim are calculated for general reference. Eruv information comes from the eruv's own published sources; always check the eruv's status with its hotline or rav before relying on it.
Kashrus information
Kosher certification shown in Kehila Local comes from the certifying agencies and their published lists, and from places and the community. Certifications change, lapse and differ in their standards. Always verify with the certifying agency and look for the current certificate at the establishment. Kehila Local does not certify anything as kosher and does not endorse any agency or place.
Accuracy of listings
We work hard to keep listings right, but details such as hours, minyan times, prices and whether a place is open can change without notice. Please confirm before you travel, and tell us or suggest an update when something is wrong. Some listings include short descriptions written by AI from public sources; they are labelled as such.
Kehila Local for Places
- Claim a place only if you are authorised to represent it, and keep its information accurate.
- We may ask for proof and may decline, pause or remove access, including when someone else shows a better claim.
- Replies to reviews must follow the community guidelines. Owners may not offer anything in exchange for reviews or pressure people to change them.
- Sponsored listings are labelled, follow the rates and rules shown when you book them, and never change the order of real results.
Events and tickets
- Events are run by their organisers, not by Kehila Local. The organiser is responsible for the event, its refund policy and what happens there.
- Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe's terms. Ticket sales, reminders and messages pause over Shabbos and Yom Tov.
- Organisers must describe events honestly, honour the tickets they sell, and use guests' details only to run the event.
Our content
The Kehila Local app, website, design, compilation of the directory and brand belong to Kehila Local. You may use them for your own personal, non-commercial use. Links to other sites and services are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for them.
Suspension and ending
You may stop using Kehila Local at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we need to protect the community, or if we stop offering the service. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as the licence to accepted contributions, disclaimers and limitation of liability) continue after that.
Disclaimers
Kehila Local is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Kehila Local and the people who run it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on listings, kashrus, zmanim or eruv information, events run by others, or content posted by others. Our total liability for any claim relating to Kehila Local is limited to the greater of the amount you paid Kehila Local in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50. Some laws do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
General
- We may update these terms. We will change the date above and, for important changes, tell members in the app or by email before they take effect.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
- If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect.
